The Many Deaths of Pixel (†) is a transdisciplinary, interactive web-based narrative exploring the question: "Where do pixels go when they die?" In the story, Pixel (†) and her new friend Cat find themselves lost in a 404-world and attempt to find their way back to Home Screen. Through interaction, the work cultivates empathy for the abstract and explores what it means to feel (dis)connected. The work consists of creative coding and multimedial illustration/film. It uses traditional media (charcoal, ink, copper paint, glass) and new materials such as a broken monitor screen and a magnetic liquid called 'ferrofluid'. In the final work all experiments are digitally linked to eachother.
